About the Opportunity

Due to ongoing demand, Urban Planners Queensland currently has an opportunity for a full-time Town Planner to join their team in Brisbane, QLD, with an opportunity to Work From Home available for the right applicant.

Reporting to the Director, you will be responsible for identifying site develop-ability in accordance with government planning and environmental legislation throughout Queensland.

Some of your additional duties will include, but will not be limited to:

  • Providing professional town planning advice to the Director, team members, referral partners and clients;
  • Maintaining current industry knowledge on relevant consultancy areas including the Queensland Development Code and legislation;
  • Preparing and lodging detailed development applications and maintaining oversight of town planning projects, ensuring deadlines are met and budgets are adhered to; and
  • Assisting with general administrative tasks where directed. 

About You

To be considered for this role you must have relevant tertiary qualifications in urban and regional planning or a closely related discipline, in addition to a minimum of 2+ years of current private town planning experience within South East Queensland. It is important to note that someone who has current experience with assessing character housing & working within the Brisbane City Council region will be highly regarded. 

As an experienced town planner, you will also possess an up-to-date industry knowledge in areas notwithstanding traffic/civil/hydraulic engineering, building certification, landscaping, ecology and arborist services, and the Queensland Development Code and other relevant legislation, in order to hit the ground running as an industry expert.

Working within a private consultancy, you will be passionate about the industry & playing a key role on smaller scale projects, and be comfortable communicating and negotiating outcomes with a range of stakeholders, including local council officials.

Moreover, your strong implementation (project management), problem-solving and time management skills will help you meet the varied requirements of the role and ensure your success.
